Power of Sequencing Cards

One of the most significant habits for successful language learning is making it accessible, and more importantly, visible. Making your child's language learning journey visible and easy is the key to nurturing their language skills.

Today, we'll explore the art of sequencing – an engaging way to help your child retell stories and understand language, not just in their native tongue but also in the language they're learning.

Sequencing cards are fantastic tools. They literally contain scenes from the story. But let's take it a step further and explore new ways to make the most of these cards.

First, you can play "I Spy." Place the colorful sequencing cards at your child's eye level, making them visible. During breakfast or any daily activity, casually ask, "Can you find the moon in the story? Let's say it in [target language] together: 'moon.'" This simple game makes learning fun and part of their everyday routine.

As you advance through the mini stories, you'll have various stories and scenes. Imagine using these scenes to create new games. Place them around the house, and ask your child to find specific elements in the target language. For example, "I Spy the whale! Can you touch it or give it a high five?" These activities immerse your child in the language in a natural and enjoyable way.

Moreover, you can create simple challenges by removing a scene and asking your child to find it. Or hide a scene and provide clues in your target language, encouraging them to embark on a treasure hunt.

This interactive and immersive approach to language learning ensures that your child connects with the language on a deeper level, building their confidence and understanding.

The sequence cards are a secret tool for turning language learning into a thrilling adventure. Take the opportunity to explore and get creative. Remember, languages should be fun and engaging, not a chore.
